Children's books for zoos, safari parks and wildlife attractions

Zoo retail has to work for a family who have just walked past the real thing. A book that names the animals they have spent the day looking at carries the visit home with them.

Zoo Adventures — what we can supply

2 of 3 titles available now, 1 in preparation.

Titles marked in preparation are not yet published and cannot be supplied. We would rather tell you that up front than take an order for a set that is short.

Retail that extends the visit

The strongest gift shop lines are the ones that answer "what did you see today?". A counting book with lions, monkeys and penguins does that, and unlike a soft toy it keeps being used at bedtime for the next two years.

Educational framing also sits comfortably with the conservation and learning message most zoos lead on. These are early years learning books that happen to be set at a zoo, not merchandise with an animal printed on it.

What is in the Zoo Adventures range

Count to 10 at the Zoo, Colours at the Zoo, and Opposites at the Zoo — the same cast of animals across all three, square format paperback, ages 2–5.

Sites with a strong species focus sometimes prefer a single title over the set. A bird park, for example, gets more from the colours book than the counting one.

Where a branded edition makes sense

A zoo with a recognisable mascot, a flagship species or a strong house style is the clearest case for a custom edition. The book becomes a souvenir of your site rather than of zoos in general, which is a materially different purchase.

It also gives you something no other attraction in the region can stock.

Talk to us about stocking

Creative Owl is a small independent publisher, so trade orders are arranged directly rather than through a wholesaler. Tell us which titles and roughly what quantity you have in mind and we will come back with terms.

Include your site, the titles you are interested in and rough quantities, and we can usually answer in one reply.

Want it branded as yours?

A custom edition carries your name and branding, so the book becomes a souvenir of your site rather than of zoos in general.

How custom editions work

Common questions

Can we stock these in our zoo gift shop?

Yes — tell us the titles and rough quantities and we will come back with trade terms.

Do the animals match the ones at our site?

The standard books use a broad cast — lions, monkeys, penguins, elephants, crocodiles and so on. If your collection is unusual, or you want your flagship species leading the book, that is a custom edition rather than the standard title.

Are they suitable for a conservation or education message?

They are early years learning books first: counting to ten, naming colours, spotting opposites. They do not carry a conservation message of their own, so they sit alongside your interpretation rather than competing with it.
